Charlette’s Web Bio
Charlette’s Web is a female vocal group consisting of Charlette Thompson, Lisa Persley, Cathy
Rawlings and their newest member, following the retirement of Ramona Thompson, is Danielle Easley. Charlette’s Web has
been singing together for decades. They participate in and often originate
projects to benefit their local, community organizations, and churches and
anyone in need.
The group has performed widely
including performances with “The Four
Tops,” The Trendells, “Three Dog Night” The Dramatics, The Drifters, The
Delfonics, The Spinners, The Platters, The Troy /Montgomery Band and
several “Rock Around the Pops Benefit
Concert Series, under the direction of Dr.
George Zack, and several Governor’s Inauguration Balls, just to
name a few. Charlette’s Web members are all gifted as solo artists and
playwrights, directors, and producers. Several of their solo performances and
musical dramas have been performed before sell-out crowds at the Lexington Opera House, The Lyric Theatre,
The Lexington Singletary Center for the Arts and other venues. Charlette’s
Web is also the voice behind many television and radio jingles.
This quartet is a non-profit organization and the majority of their
monies raised are donated towards the needy. Added to their repertoire is an
original song recorded called “Crazy for
Kentucky,” which was a tribute to the University of Kentucky Basketball
team as it headed towards the NCAA Final Four in New Orleans in 1993. This song
took on and overnight success and the funds went towards a Scholarship Fund for
two children, who lost their mother, in a drowning accident. (This recording is
still in demand and available, on tape, for $5.00).
Charlette’s Web is well gifted in their abilities to sing several genres
of music. However, they are well known for their anointed gospel sound and
their secular renditions of “Oldies.” Come join them as they open for world
renowned Kevin Harris and group on
Friday August 8, 2014, at The Lyric Theatre.
Deep Roots-Tall Trees Jazz Concert will benefit the First African
Foundation and serve the First Annual William E. Thomas Music Awards
